Pet Loss Memorial Pages

The memorial page is the final, tangible gift of the counselling process. After the sessions — after the story has been told, the bond recognised, the pain acknowledged, the life celebrated — the counsellor creates a permanent page on the Academy platform. A dedicated place for everything that mattered about that pet's life.

What a memorial page contains

Every page is built around the five steps of the TRACE Method, using the stories and memories gathered in the sessions:

  • The pet's name, breed, and life story
  • Photographs shared by the owner
  • The memories and moments that defined the relationship
  • Favourite places, routines, and quirks
  • A space for family and friends to add their own memories

Pages live permanently on academyforpetloss.com. They can be shared with family, friends, and anyone who knew the pet. They do not disappear.

Why memorial pages matter

Pet bereavement counselling draws on Continuing Bonds Theory — the understanding that healthy grieving is not about "letting go" but about maintaining a changed, continuing relationship with the lost. The memorial page is the practical expression of this. It says: this life mattered, and it will continue to matter. It is somewhere to return to.

For many pet owners, the memorial page becomes one of the most treasured things to come from the loss — a complete, permanent record of a life that existed and was loved.

How it works for counsellors

Academy members have access to the memorial page builder — a guided tool structured around the TRACE steps. As a counsellor, you build the page using what was shared in the sessions. You deliver it to the client as a keepsake. You set your own price for the service.

Membership includes one memorial page credit per month. Additional pages are available at a per-page rate. The Academy does not set a price to clients — that is the counsellor's decision.

How to introduce it to clients

The memorial page offer is always made at the end of the counselling work — after trust is established and the story has been fully told. The suggested approach:

"We've spent these sessions exploring [pet's name]'s life together. If you'd like, I could turn everything we've discussed into a permanent memorial page — somewhere you can return to, share with family, keep forever. There's no pressure at all."

It is never introduced mid-session. It is never framed as a sales pitch. It is a natural closing offer after the therapeutic work is complete.

Memorial pages are an Academy membership benefit

Access to the memorial page builder is included for all Academy members (£15/month). Membership also includes a verified directory listing, a TRACE badge on your profile, and access to the practitioner community.

To access the memorial tool, you first complete the TRACE certification course.
