About these terms

These terms govern your use of academyforpetloss.com and all services offered by the Academy for Pet Loss, including the counsellor directory, training courses, and membership. By using the site, you agree to these terms.

The directory

The Academy for Pet Loss maintains a directory of pet bereavement counsellors. Directory listings are sourced from publicly available information and are provided for informational purposes only. We do not verify, endorse, or warrant the qualifications, credentials, or suitability of any listed counsellor. Users engage with counsellors entirely at their own discretion.

Practitioners listed in the directory who wish to update or remove their listing may contact us at listings@academyforpetloss.com. We will action removal requests within 7 days.

Training courses

The Academy for Pet Loss offers online training courses in pet bereavement counselling, including certification in the TRACE Method. By enrolling in a course you agree to:

• Use course materials for personal professional development only
• Not reproduce, distribute, or resell any course content
• Not share login credentials with third parties

Course content is protected by copyright. The TRACE Method name and framework are proprietary to the Academy for Pet Loss (trademark application pending).

Membership

Academy membership is offered on a monthly rolling basis. Payment is due in advance each month. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

Membership benefits (directory listing, memorial page credits, badge) are available for the duration of an active paid membership. On cancellation, paid-member features revert to the standard unclaimed listing.

Refunds and cancellations — courses

You are entitled to a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided you have not completed more than one module. After that point, no refund is available. To request a refund, email hello@academyforpetloss.com within 14 days of your purchase date.

Certificates and credentials

TRACE Methodology Practitioner certification is awarded on completion of the relevant course modules and assessments. Certificates and digital badges are issued to the individual who completed the course and are non-transferable.

The Academy for Pet Loss certification is a specialist counselling credential, not a clinical psychology qualification. Holders should not represent themselves as clinical therapists on the basis of this certification alone.

Memorial pages

Memorial pages are created by counsellors on behalf of their clients. The Academy for Pet Loss hosts these pages on a permanent basis as part of membership. In the event that a membership lapses, memorial pages already created will remain live. We reserve the right to remove pages that contain unlawful, offensive, or infringing content.

The counsellor is responsible for ensuring they have the consent of their client before creating a memorial page and for the accuracy of any content submitted.

Limitation of liability

The Academy for Pet Loss provides informational content and a directory service. We are not a counselling provider and are not responsible for the conduct, quality, or outcomes of any counselling provided by practitioners listed in or trained through the Academy. Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant service in the 12 months preceding any claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
